Fiddlers of the Genesee (FOG) is a non-profit 501.c (3) corporation devoted to preserving, promoting and stimulating the tradition of "old-time fiddling" in the Genesee River area of New York State.
The club was founded in September 1991, after being inspired by the Genesee Country Village & Museum’s "Fiddlers’ Fair." Its members have met almost every week since then to enjoy the fellowship of playing old-time fiddle music together. Over the years, FOG has frequently entertained the public with performances of our old-time fiddle music in a variety of settings.
Our weekly FOG fiddle music jams are open to musicians of all ages, as well as those who just enjoy listening. Other acoustic stringed instruments, (primarily fiddle, viola, guitar, mandolin, banjo, dobro, hammered dulcimer and bass) are welcome at the jam sessions. Participation in FOG performances is limited to current members.
FOG publishes a monthly club newsletter, The FOG Fiddletter containing a variety of fiddle-related news and information. Sheet music for a Tune-of-the-Month is included in pdf format. A companion MIDI music file is distributed to members.
The Members Only area of our website provides current members with downloadable access to both the pdf music sheets and the MIDI music files within the entire 150-tune FOG fiddle music repertoire.
